L.A. County has released its $48.8 billion recommended budget for 2026-2027 and they are continuing to do the bare minimum to make meaningful investments into Care First and Alternatives to Incarceration — its result will be greater harm to all Angelenos, but especially for marginalized communities. They continue to allocate BILLIONS into harmful departments like the Sheriff, Probation, and District Attorney while the County is in a fiscal crisis, so the Re-Imagine LA Coalition and partners will be mobilizing community members to attend a rally and resource fair on May 6th at 10:00 AM at the Board of Supervisors and give public comment to demand a budget that uplifts our most vulnerable communities.

May 6th Demands:

-Freeze and reduce law enforcement budgets

-Fully Fund Community-Based Diversion, Housing, and Prevention

-Restore and Fully Fund the Public Defender and Alternate Public Defender

-Center impacted communities in all budget decision-making

-Reject Jail Expansion Projects
