UPDATE: The allocation of $360 million in capital outlay funding for the San Quentin proposal, which was rejected by the California legislature & critiqued by the state’s own Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO), has reappeared in the final version of the 2023-24 state budget.

This reversal is ignoring the community voices, like Steve’s, who are calling attention to these ill-conceived efforts for prison expansion. Wasting millions on this proposal is contradictory to the urgent need to #CloseCAPrisons in California.
