Wondering what’s in California’s 2026-27 Enacted Corrections Budget?!
Check out and share CURB’s overview here: bit.ly/enacted26
Each year CURB produces an overview of the Proposed, May Revised, and Enacted California State Corrections Budgets, breaking down the good, the bad, and the ugly. We hope these overviews can be useful in your conversations and advocacy!
We support investments from this year’s enacted budget that keep communities safe and resourced. However, sustaining them requires addressing California’s structural deficit, which demands reducing its massive $19.33 BILLION Corrections budget.
Recent budgets have maintained thousands of empty prison beds, increased spending on incarceration, and falsely justified reactivating prison space, adding staff, and preserving institutional capacity, even as the prison population declines.
Join us as we continue to fight back against prison expansion and advocate to bring our loved ones home. More incarceration can never be the solution to the issues it creates. Our communities deserve care not cages.
