From September 26 to October 3, over 30 prison yards throughout the state participated in a Week of Walks to raise awareness and highlight the healing work people serving LWOP are leading on a daily basis.
Full quote from Amber-Rose:
“We are here today because we care so much about ending life without parole sentencing. So many people serving life without parole are the reason why California has been able to close 5 state owned prisons in the last 5 years. The programs, services, and all of the things that happen inside (of prisons) that rehabilitate (the incarcerated) started many years ago by folks with life without parole. They have proven that we can change ourselves. They paved the way to get ourselves free.”
