Being a part of CURB's growth

Dear Supporter,

Just yesterday I was able to vote for the first time in 52 years. The right that I was able to excercise yesterday reminded me of all the CURB members that fight and will continue to fight for the liberation of all those still inside Meme for Jerry's Email CURB MY 2016(2)and those of us on the outside.

This is exactly why I am proud to be a part of CURB.

I have seen, felt, and experienced the importance of this coalition that fights against the systems of oppression that incarcerate us and advocates for a world without cages.

I am asking you to invest in this important work today by giving $30 or $100. Anything you can give will help!

What I love about CURB

Dear Supporter,

We are living in a terribly uncertain time. As someone who’s been committed to ending mass incarceration for the last six years of my life—beginning with my own unlawful imprisonment as a political hostage in Iran—I feel compelled to seize this moment and take stock.

There have been many victories, both locally and statewide, in recent years. In California success has ranged from the passing a law to Ban the Box an effort led by formerly incarcerated people to three prisoner hunger strikes igniting a movement against solitary confinement that led to a historic settlement and over 1,000 people being released from solitary confinement.

As a statewide coalition, CURB makes sure that these victories are seen and felt nationally.

We Are So Close…

Dear Supporter,

As a CURB intern, it has been thrilling to witness the amazing people power of our coalition. Last week, we won a significant victory as both houses of the legislature voted to reject the Governor’s proposal for more jail construction funding.

We are so close — but we’re not there yet.

This week, the budget conference committee will be making final revisions before passing the budget to the full legislature.

The Governor, under intense pressure from the sheriffs and other law enforcement, is pushing the legislature to nullify the votes from the budget committees and add the jail construction funding back to to the budget.

Make sure the Governor and the Conference Committee know what our communities truly need to thrive by contacting them now!

A victory against imprisonment in California

Dear Supporter,

For the first time, the budget committees of both houses of the state legislature have rejected the Governor’s proposal for more jail construction funding! This is an enormous victory for the fierce CURB coalition, and shows that Sacramento has bee listening to our demands.

But we’re not done yet.

Law enforcement is doing everything they can to persuade Sacramento to override the budget committees and continue funneling money into building new cages.

Help CURB bring our fight against jail expansion over the finish line by supporting our organizing, advocacy, and movement-building work.
