First Step in our #CABudgetBattle!

Dear Supporter,

nomorecagesCalifornia’s budget season is getting into gear! This week the Senate Budget committee will be discussing the Updated CDCR Blueprint — a report that paints a grim picture of increased imprisonment and expanded correctional control for decades to come.

Take our first budget action of the year: Let the Senate know that we need to stop pouring money into prisons and start building community solutions!

At tomorrow’s hearing, the CDCR will try to persuade the senators to extend their contracts with out-of-state and in-state contract prisons, and to repair the decrepit prison in Norco instead of closing it down.

Let the Senate know we need to focus on bringing our loved ones back home — not fortifying the state’s capacity to imprison them.

We will be in Sacramento demanding a lasting solution at tomorrow’s hearing:

Thursday, March 3, 9:30 am
State Capitol – Room 113

If you can’t join us, will you take action right now?

Rather than waste billions of dollars cementing our reliance on prisons, we need our elected officials to invest in our future — a future that involves a supportive and resourced California for all.
In solidarity,

Lizzie Buchen
