Can you donate $25, right now, to fund a seat on the bus coming up from Los Angeles?
This rally has been in the works for quite some time. It’s a continuation, in fact, of a long tradition of protests outside the two largest prisons for women in the world that make ourselves heard not just by policy makers, but by people in prison themselves.
But the entire event has taken on an even more urgent dimension as Governor Jerry Brown moves to proclaim the California prison crisis “over” – even as he moves to increase prison spending, as his department projects an increase in the prison population over the next couple years, and as people inside California prisons continue to die for lack of basic health care. This rally is one of our best opportunities to short-circuit Brown’s hollow attempt to justify continued overcrowding.
On the 26th, we’ll be marching from Valley State Prison to Central California Women’s Facility – now the most overcrowded prison in California – to demand further reductions to the California prison system and the release of our loved one’s locked up in California’s prisons.
CURB has reserved a bus to bring our members in LA up to Chowchilla – and we need your help now to fund it. Just $25 underwrites a seat – and adds one more passionate activist to the crowd.
Please click here to make a $25 donation today. It’s critical that we all stand up for the people we love, and the fragile but real progress we’ve made to shrink the California prison system over the last two years.
