CURB is looking for two new interns!

Dear Supporter,

We’re excited to announce that CURB is looking for a Development Intern and a Media and Communications Intern to join our team! These internships offer the opportunity for new members to gain experience in outreach, grassroots organizing, media campaigns, coalition and movement building, public education, policy advocacy and social justice work, while working alongside an amazing group of anti-prison activists. Click here to view the full job descriptions, qualifications,and application requirements.

Development Internship responsibilities include:

  • Supporting grassroots organizing and outreach efforts;
  • Cultivating relationships with potential & current donors;
  • Coordinating the logistics of various fundraising activities (direct mailings, thank you cards, events etc.);
  • Supporting grant writing and research;
  • Maintaining organizational website & social media as it relates to development;
  • Assisting with administrative tasks;
  • Recruiting future interns and other duties as necessary.

Media and Communications Internship responsibilities include:

  • Supporting grassroots organizing and outreach efforts;
  • Coordinating press outreach;
  • Maintaining organizational website & social media as it relates to communications;
  • Maintaining connections between CURB and people inside prison through written correspondence;
  • Recruiting future interns and volunteers;
  • Assisting with administrative tasks.

All positions are unpaid, although the opportunity to receive school credit or funding is allowed if offered by the candidate’s program. Interns are asked to make a minimum commitment of 3 months to the organization and to meet a number of work hours agreed upon in advance with the alliance. Applicants must be able to work out of one of our two offices in Oakland (near the corner of Webster and 14th St.) or Los Angeles (located at the Chuco’s Justice Center in Inglewood). Applications will be accepted until February 12th, or the positions are filled.
